ScolioStars launched a donation drive to support underserved communities in Uganda. We collected gently used medical supplies and raised funds from students and families in developed countries, and carefully redistributed to those who need them most. This initiative not only improves access to essential healthcare but also reduces medical waste, extending the life of valuable medical resources. More than 4000 supplies were distributed to Uganda, Honduras and Ghana, benefiting over 1200 families in need.

Virtual ESL Health Literacy Workshop Series

We designed and delivered a series of progressive health literacy workshops revolving around key health topics for underserved Honduran children in collaboration with a Honduran nonprofit English school. We began with foundational concepts and built toward intermediate-level topics, so each participant retained key vocabulary and sentence structure from each workshop. Each session was designed to build participants' confidence in both understanding vital health information and communicating about it in English. Our goal was to empower these children with practical knowledge and confidence in English to build health literacy for their communities.

Creative Storytelling English Workshop

How do we build a more accepting community? At ScolioStars, we believe it starts with the root action of empowering young voices. In collaboration with SoCo Hong Kong, we led an interactive "Story Drama" workshop for children from low-income families in Hong Kong. Participants explored the English language by actively reading a picture book and then collaboratively acting out its narrative about acceptance. This workshop's aim was to teach children that no one must face their challenges alone and that friendship is their strongest support system, while teaching them English in an interactive and engaging way.
